The preparation of glass-ionomer cements based on the composition of SiO2–Al2O3–CaO–SrO–F and evaluation of their properties is described. Cements were prepared via the sol–gel method and characterized by XRD, BET, SEM, and EDAX analysis. The effect of various concentrations of Sr on in vitro bioactivity of the glass speciments was investigated. In vitro bioactivity of the samples was evaluated by soaking them in simulated body fluid followed by structural characterization using SEM and atomic absorption analysis. The present work deals with the adsorption of uranium from a nitric acid waste solution using the cation exchange resin Amberjet 1200 H (AHR) . Batch experiments were performed in order to assess the performance of AHR in uranium adsorption. The influences of pH, contact time, initial uranium concentration and temperature have been enhanced. The physical parameters including the adsorption kinetics, the isotherm models and the thermodynamic data have also been determined to determine the nature of the uranium adsorption by AHR. Fast Fourier transform (FFT) based approaches have been successful in application to modeling of relatively rigid protein–protein complexes. Recently, we have been able to adapt the FFT methodology to treatment of flexible protein–peptide interactions. Here, we report our latest attempt to expand the capabilities of the FFT approach to treatment of flexible protein–ligand interactions in application to the D3R PL-2016-1 challenge. Based on the D3R assessment, our FFT approach in conjunction with Monte Carlo minimization off-grid refinement was among the top performing methods in the challenge. Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone-supported boron trifluoride has been studied for synthesis of 4-methyl coumarin by the Pechmann reaction. The reaction proceeded smoothly with hydroxyl phenols and ethyl acetoacetate in good yields in ethanol at reflux conditions. In this work a cloud-point extraction has been used for the preconcentration of the trace amounts of titanium after complex formation with morin (2′,3,4′,5,7-pentahydroxyflavone) using Triton X-114 as surfactant. The chemical variables affecting the phase separation and the viscosity affecting the detection by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) were optimized. At pH 4.5, preconcentration of 50 mL of sample in the presence of 0.08% Triton X-114 and 1.0 × 10?4 M morin enabled the detection limit (c L = 3S b/m) of 2.9 ng/mL titanium and linear range 0.02–2.0 μg/mL to be achived. The preconcentration factor was 61, and the relative standard deviation was 3.8% for 0.1 μg/mL solution of Ti(IV) by repeated assays (n = 9). Here, we introduce a new technique called embedded passivated-electrode insulator-based dielectrophoresis (EπDEP) for preconcentration, separation, or enrichment of bioparticles, including living cells. This new method combines traditional electrode-based DEP and insulator-based DEP with the objective of enhancing the electric field strength and capture efficiency within the microfluidic channel while alleviating direct contact between the electrode and the fluid. The EπDEP chip contains embedded electrodes within the microfluidic channel covered by a thin passivation layer of only 4 μm. The channel was designed with two nonaligned vertical columns of insulated microposts (200 μm diameter, 50 μm spacing) located between the electrodes (600 μm wide, 600 μm horizontal spacing) to generate nonuniform electric field lines to concentrate cells while maintaining steady flow in the channel. The performance of the chip was demonstrated using Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) and Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) bacterial pathogens in aqueous media. Trapping efficiencies of 100 % were obtained for both pathogens at an applied AC voltage of 50 V peak-to-peak and flow rates as high as 10 μl/min. 相似文献
